Module Two Image Hijack Assignment — Part One
Three important political issues for me are: Global Climate Change; the contrast between the founding of this nation and its current political state; and… the nature of that current state.
My for my first Image Hijack sketch, I envision a statue of Justice holding a balance (the base image). The balance has tilted toward three oil barrels, from which a plume of noxious smoke rises to curl across the eyes of Justice. In the other pan of the balance sits Earth, forced up toward the sun to the point where it has caught fire. The caption would be: “Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire; and Smoke Gets In the Eyes.”
I would use this sketch as a guide for sourcing the components I would need to put it together.
My second Image Hijack revolves around two quotes.
One, by the great patriot Nathan Hale, as found on a plaque located on a building at E. 51st Street and 1st Avenue in New York: “I only regret I have but one life to give for my country.”
The other, by Donald Trump (owner of The Trump World Tower at E. 48th Street and 1st Avenue, three short blocks away): “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters.”
I have already put together a rough test of how this Image Hijack might go together, so my sketch is of a modified revision.
My third Image Hijack is a simple one, based upon the principle (perhaps inappropriate for this exercise) of “never do anything in Photoshop if you can instead do it in the camera first” (or, “don’t avoid dealing with an issue in camera by thinking to fix it in Photoshop later”). This hijack literally uses the persona of Donald Trump as the “image” it hijacks, by way of a Trump impersonator.
This Image Hijack is adequate as it is already.
